Yxta Cocina Mexicana
Located in downtown Los Angeles at the corner of Central Avenue and 6th Street, Yxta Cocina Mexicana (pronounced eeks’-tah) is the sister restaurant to Highland Park’s El Arco Iris. Opened since 2009, the restaurant was named after owner Jesse Gomez’s professor at Loyola Law School, Yxta Maya Murray. The modern, eclectic and comfortable interior was designed by New York-based architect Poonam Khanna. The restaurant offers authentic Mexican food—handmade tortillas, fresh guacamole, slow-cooked carnitas, enchiladas de mole and chile rellenos, as well as delicious updates to the classics—tostaditas de ceviche, sweet shrimp tacos, and salmon in cilantro pesto. We are proud to serve Jidori free-range chicken.
