A New Glow on 7th Street
This fall, the DTLA Alliance installed cafe lighting and LED programmable downlighting on nearly 30 trees on 7th Street, between Figueroa Street and Hill Street, thanks to funding provided by The Office of Councilmember Kevin de León, 14th District.
The lighting project is intended to enhance the pedestrian experience, increase safety, and highlight 7th Street’s Restaurant Row as a premier DTLA destination. Alongside the installation, long-standing street light outages were also repaired, ensuring a well-lit, inviting environment all along this central corridor of our District.
“As a vibrant mixed-use hub, The Bloc is thrilled to see 7th Street’s lighting improvements come to life,” says Dan Cote, GM of The Bloc. “7th Street has always been a dynamic part of Downtown LA, and with the new lighting, it feels more vibrant and welcoming than ever. This is about creating a space where both locals and visitors can truly enjoy the unique mix of dining and entertainment experiences that our district offers."
On October 16, the community celebrated the project’s completion with “7th Street GLOW,” a lively event featuring a lighting ceremony, silent disco, and live entertainment. Over 300 Downtowners were in attendance.
