DTLA is Here for You

Wednesday February 5, 2025
As thousands of Angelenos have been displaced – homes and whole neighborhoods impacted by catastrophic wildfires – Downtown LA has sprung into action with support ranging from donation centers to emergency childcare and relocation assistance – one community coming to the aid of others.

Nothing can replace the areas that were destroyed and we’re rooting for them to be rebuilt as quickly as possible, but as our friends from Altadena, Pasadena, and Pacific Palisades piece together their short and long-term plans, we also want them to know that DTLA is here for you – a welcoming place to be, whether for a few weeks, months, or longer.

From afar, with its skyline of gleaming office towers, Downtown looks like a nice place to work. Zoom-in on its world-class dining, arts, and entertainment, and it seems like a cool place to visit. But get up close and personal and you realize DTLA is also a great place to live – a vibrant residential community that loves the convenience and familiarity of a neighborhood where most of what you need – from grocery stores and shoe repair shops to local restaurants and farmers markets – is within walking distance. With its central location at the hub of the Metro system and multiple freeways, Downtown also provides easy access to the rest of the city – particularly places like Hollywood, Pasadena, and Culver City, that are just 20 minutes away.

DTLA’s collection of unique neighborhoods, from South Park and the Arts District to the Downtown Center and Historic Core, offer something for everyone, with a variety of buildings, from historic to high-rise, and a vibrant mix of people, lifestyles, activities, and amenities. For more on living in Downtown, have a look at our  DTLA Residential Report.

Nearly 100,000 people already call DTLA home, and with its unparalleled mix of market-rate and affordable apartments, lofts, and condos, and a current vacancy rate of around 10%, Downtown is one of the only parts of the city that has enough housing available to accommodate an influx of new residents. In fact, Downtown would welcome them with open arms! In response to the current crisis, many DTLA hotels and apartment buildings are currently offering flexible lease terms and special rates, for those impacted, which you can find out more about here.

And if you want to experience Downtown and its offerings in person, you can check out DTLA Open House, with tours on the 2nd Saturday of every month (next on February 8th).
