REDCAT’s 17th Annual New Original Works Festival
This year, for the first time ever, the New Original Works (NOW) Festival at the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT) moves to the fall, spread across three weekends, each featuring a triple bill of premieres. The 17th annual festival, a celebration of Los Angeles’ vibrant community of artists creating contemporary performance works, will take place Oct. 8-10, Nov. 5-7, Dec. 10-12, 2020. Presented virtually from the REDCAT stage, Week Two will reflect and question the flux of Mexican American identity with Primera Generación Dance Collective's Nepantla; explore the political and cultural pressures experienced by the body in Xiaoyue Zhang's Little Red Book, or Plural Body; and dive into ritual, intimacy, pleasure, and the erotic in randy reyes + Bapari's Real Talk #1 (Pt. 2).
