Pilviškiai: My Father’s Village
Storyteller/musician, Karen Golden presents this interactive performance that spotlights her 2018 journey to her father’s village in Lithuania to come to terms with how her family was impacted by the Lithuanian Jewish genocide. There will also be a pre-show immersive experience available for VIP ticketholders that takes guests on an emotionally resonant journey into a time in history that remains controversial, is rarely discussed and is especially relevant today.
This multimedia performance blends immersive storytelling and live Klezmer music played by Klezmer Arts Institute Los Angeles (KAILA), which Karen co-founded along with Dr. Alan Klein, and music director Gustavo Bulgach in 2019.
Golden’s painful yet heartening story takes audiences into one of the darkest chapters in humanity’s history to remind us of the power of family, community, and our ability to find hope in even the bleakest of times.
