Free Queer Pop Up and Screening Event Hosted by PBS SoCal and LA Plaza on Sept. 24
Join LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, PBS SoCal and KCET for a celebratory screening and pop up event of UNIDAD: Gay & Lesbian Latinos Unidos with a Q&A immediately following on Sun., September 24 from 5:30pm – 9pm at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes (501 North Main Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012).
The celebration will begin with a pop-up market from Queer Mercado and local food vendor Tirzah's Mexi-Terranean followed by music performance, film screening and conversation led by Dr. Veronica Terriquez, Director and Professor at UCLA’s Chicano Studies Research Center with the filmmakers and members from The TransLatin@ Coalition, Latino Equality Alliance among others activists who work to uplift, support and advocate for the queer Latinx community. The film, UNIDAD: Gay & Lesbian Latinos Unidos, is a groundbreaking portrait chronicling Los Angeles area’s first major Queer Latin@ organization and the fight for LGBTQ equality, women’s rights and civil rights.
