Dance at The Music Center: Dance at Dusk
A cultural icon and one of American history’s most celebrated artists, Paul Taylor is hailed as part of the pantheon that created American modern dance. His repertoire of 147 dances comments on life’s complexities and society’s thorniest issues. Paul Taylor Dance Company continues to perform the founder’s repertoire as well as masterworks of the past by renowned artists and works by the next generation of choreographers.
The Paul Taylor Dance Company engagement includes five performances and features the West Coast premiere of Kyle Abraham’s critically-acclaimed 2019 work, Only the Lonely, to the music of Shirley Horn, and the beloved and iconic Taylor work—Promethean Fire—created in 2002 after 9/11, proclaiming that even after cataclysmic events, the human spirit finds renewal and emerges triumphant.
All events are outdoors. Tickets are available for the live on-stage experience in seated socially distanced pods on Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center and for the performance simulcast in socially distanced pods (lawn seating with blankets encouraged) in Grand Park.
