Casden 2020 State of the Market: Multifamily
The USC Lusk Center for Real Estate is hosting a special virtual event, the 2020 State of the Market: Multifamily Multifamily, which will feature California Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis as keynote speaker, on Thursday, Nov. 12.
The virtual conference is the first of a two-event approach to the Casden Multifamily Forecast, which is typically unveiled and discussed at a live event each fall. During this time of uncertainty, the first event will explore realities of the Covid-19 multifamily marketplace, such as the amount of rent being collected, how tenants are paying for it, legislation such as eviction moratoria, and ballot measures such as Proposition 15 and 21.
In addition to Lt. Gov. Kounalakis’s keynote address, the conference will feature a panel discussion of top industry’s top experts from Related California, Greenstreet Advisors, the Lusk Center, Jamison Realty, the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy, the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, and the Los Angeles Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LA LISC).
A second Casden event will follow in the spring.
The special approach to the Casden Forecast follows the U.S. economy’s largest one-quarter contraction and the largest stimulus/relief package ever created. Since these unprecedented times prevent forecasting models from giving useful results, the virtual conference acts as an alternative for the forecast and allows industry specialists to discuss the current state of the multifamily industry.
