Basil Poledouris: The Music and The Movies

Basil Poledouris was one of film music’s most beloved figures over the 35 years of his brilliant career. During the 1980s and 90s, he composed some of the greatest scores of the period, including some genuine classics that will endure for decades, or maybe centuries! Tragically, we lost Basil in 2006, when he was only 61 years old.

This concert, presented on July 22, 2022, at Walt Disney Concert Hall, will be a truly spectacular celebration of this remarkable composer and his work, while celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Conan: The Barbarian. The concert will also feature a remarkable group of special guests who were friends, colleagues and collaborators of Basil’s, as well as a program of his music unlike any that has ever been presented.

Basil Poledouris composed the breathtaking scores for Conan: The Barbarian, The Blue Lagoon, RoboCop, The Hunt for Red October, Starship Troopers, Lonesome Dove, Free Willy, Iron Eagle and so many more. The Los Angeles Film Orchestra will perform music from all of these and more!

Special guest conductors will join Steven Allen Fox and The Los Angeles Film Orchestra and Chorale, with Resident Choir Maestra Marya Basaraba, in this special tribute to the great Basil Poledouris, produced and hosted by Robert Townson, a longtime friend who worked with Basil on twenty of his albums.
