We ❤️ 7th Street

Thursday July 11, 2024

One of DTLA's busiest and most beloved thoroughfares is getting a functional facelift! If you haven't noticed already, portions of 7th Street starting at San Pedro Street have already been updated with pedestrian and bicyclist safety improvements. The 7th Street Streetscape project includes more pedestrian lighting, bus islands, protected bike lanes, and more trees to improve the overall safety and experience of Downtowners.

This project has now progressed to our District, specifically between Hill St. and Olive, which means there's a lot of street closures going on, but it is of incredible importance to remember that during the entirety of construction, all businesses will be open - and they need your help! Pedestrian access on 7th Street will remain unchanged, so here's a list of spots we love on 7th Street that need your attention and patronage, especially right now.

  • Rita's Deluxe - One of our favorite places to get a burger and a milkshake in DTLA, think classic diner counter stop but elevated. Plus - Chicago-style hotdogs, IYKYK.
  • Tasty Pho - A hidden gem located on the lower level of 663 S. Hill, this quick and easy shop offers up delicious Vietnamese food for a budget-friendly price.
  • The Los Angeles Athletic Club - Part athletic club, part hotel, and part social club (plus several bars and restaurants!) this historic institution is members only, but does operate as a hotel to the general public and is well worth a stay, even for Angelenos.
  • Sonder The WinfieldBuilt in 1929, this building was formerly the flagship store for men's clothing store, Foreman & Clark. Now, it's become a cozy, apartment-style hotel offering guests a full-size kitchenette, in-suite laundry, and Roku for streaming!
