A Sight to Behold: DATALAND is Now Open on Grand Avenue

Thursday September 10, 2026

Now open at The Grand LA, DATALAND is engineered as a living museum that connects art, architecture, and audience in a building that dreams and remembers. Under the artistic leadership of Refik Anadol Studio, the museum unites pioneers across multidisciplinary fields, including the arts, science, and technology. Here, data becomes material, and human presence becomes part of the creative process itself, creating new possibilities that continuously unfold in real time as a collective experience.

The inaugural exhibition, Machine Dreams: Rainforest, is an epic journey across five galleries where visitors influence ever-changing artworks inspired by live data signals from 16 unique rainforest locations, inviting deeper connections to nature and its intelligence.

Machine Dreams: Rainforest utilizes Refik Anadol Studio’s Large Nature Model (LNM), one of the world’s most advanced AI systems dedicated to nature. Trained on vast permission-based datasets of flora, fauna, and fungi, as well as Earth’s rainforests, landscapes, and ecological systems, the LNM continuously interprets live environmental signals and transforms them into evolving visual, sonic, and sensory experiences in real time. The result is a new form of living architecture in which the museum itself becomes responsive, adaptive, and alive.

DATALAND spans 25,000 square feet of public exhibition space, with an additional 10,000 square feet housing the museum’s advanced technologies. Through more than 1.5 billion pixels, real-time scent augmentation, biofeedback, and 300 channels of spatial audio, the museum transforms ecological datasets into evolving omni-sensory experiences.

DATALAND’s advanced technologies and dynamic visual environments also offer an unprecedented setting for private events, holiday celebrations, receptions, panels, and symposiums. Each experience can be tailored to the occasion, from curated receptions within the galleries to private gatherings throughout the museum. For information about private events, group visits, or hosting team outings and team-building gatherings at DATALAND, contact events@dataland.art.

Now open Tuesday through Sunday, DATALAND joins the renowned visual and performing arts institutions along the city’s Grand Avenue Cultural District, including The Broad, LA Phil, MOCA, The Music Center, REDCAT, and The Colburn School.
