Plática: Xochipilli: Queer Expressions of Joy, Culture, and Love
Join us for an intimate evening of photography, conversation, and community as Luis Cornejo and members of the creative team present Xochipilli: Queer Expression, Culture, and Love. This project explores identity, cultural memory, and queer self-expression through visual storytelling inspired by cultural symbolism and contemporary lived experiences.
The evening will begin with a viewing of selected photographic works from the Xochipilli series, including large-scale canvases and printed images that highlight themes of joy, resilience, and cultural connection. Guests will then transition into a moderated plática featuring artists and collaborators from the project, offering insight into the creative process, the cultural significance behind the imagery, and the role of queer storytelling in building community.
Designed as an accessible and welcoming space, the event invites attendees to engage in dialogue, reflect on representation in art, and connect with local creatives. A separate area will also allow for mingling, networking, and deeper engagement with the artwork following the panel conversation. Light refreshments will be served.
