Los Angeles Public Library – Central 100 Centennial Celebration Kick-off
The Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) is inviting the community to the Central 100 Kick-Off at Central Library on Thursday, January 29 at 11 a.m. in the Mark Taper Auditorium, 630 W. Fifth Street.
Guests will join the celebration to discover the contents of a recently unearthed 100-year-old time capsule, explore five new exhibitions that tell Central Library’s story, see the debut of a new limited edition library card, enjoy a preview of the events and programs planned throughout 2026 and wish the library a Happy 100th Birthday with a slice of cake at the reception.
Dedicated in July 1926, the Los Angeles Central Library became an instant architectural icon and guiding light of learning for the city. For this significant milestone, the Los Angeles Public Library is pleased to present Central 100, a year-long celebration that brings together residents from all corners of Los Angeles.
