First Fridays: AMPLIFIED – Music and the Mind
Get ready for the all-new 2025 season of First Fridays: AMPLIFIED, exploring the transformative power of sound––how it moves us, shapes our minds, and deepens our connection to the natural world.
On June 6, immerse yourself in Music and the Mind, an evening dedicated to the science and art of sound—and how music connects to the human experience. Experience an enlightening conversation in NHM’s new Commons Theater with host Dr. Yewande Pearse and special guest Susan Rogers, PhD, behavioral neuroscientist and former record producer and engineer, who has worked with the likes of Prince, David Byrne, and Barenaked Ladies. Together, they’ll explore the social and personal benefits of listening to music as well as how our listening patterns affect the mind.
Enjoy live musical performances by Ha Vay and Nymhlord, along with tunes from DJs Glenn Red and DJ Jen Rock, and a drum circle presented by Rhythm and Truth. Relax in a sound bath microsession with The Sound Healing Studio, and get crafty with art activities by Sounds Artsy! Creative Station hosted by Nova Community Arts. Plus, browse NHM collections displays, exhibitions, and pop-ups.
Don’t miss this unforgettable after-hours experience at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles featuring music, discussion, cocktails, food trucks, and more.
Advance reservations recommended. Free admission and discounted tickets for NHMLAC Members.
