Fanna-Fi-Allah in Concert: Ecstatic Sufi Qawwali
The internationally renowned Sufi Qawwali music ensemble FANNA-FI-ALLAH announces their first appearance in Los Angeles five years on Saturday, April 20 at the beautiful Pico Union Project cultural center in downtown LA.
For over two decades, Fanna-Fi-Allah has been the preeminent torchbearer of traditional Sufi Qawwali music, enlightening global audiences with unparalleled insight into the rich tapestry of Qawwali culture, which acts as a bridge between religious chants, chanted poetry and the experience of Sufi mystical love.
The origins of Qawwali music date back about 1,000 years to the first Sufi mystics who came to India. Qawwali music celebrates the great Sufi mystics of old, and relishes in the love of the divine through poetry. Sung with a soaring melodious chorus and accompanied by entrancing energetic rhythms of tabla and group clapping, the divine Beloved is celebrated with ecstatic devotion. Fannah-Fi-Allah upholds the art form in its most authentic and time-honored tradition, serving as a vital cultural conduit between the East and the West, championing a message of universal tolerance that is imperative for our current era.
Fanna-Fi-Allah has performed at prestigious international festivals and concert stages across the United States, Canada, Pakistan, China, Russia, Europe, Australia, Indonesia, India, and Africa. The April 20 concert will be the last stop on their USA spring tour. This unique, devotional ecstatic music experience will take place at the Pico Union Project hall, a former synagogue, to further reinforce the message of cross-cultural harmony. .
