Costume and Candy Crawl: A Family Event in Downtown LA

Get to know DTLA's spooky side for frightful Halloween fun!

Hear about the haunted history of Downtown Los Angeles with select stops for trick-or-treating along the way. We'll cover everything from spooky hotels with ghostly guests to the legendary crime bosses who once ruled the day. It's socially distanced Halloween fun for the whole family. Don't forget to come in your best costume — there's a grand prize for the winner!

Event Highlights:

-Kick off this DTLA candy crawl at The Gelateria in Spring Arcade Building.
-Learn about the spooky and strange history of Downtown LA (but we’ll keep it kid-friendly).
-Tour Grand Central Market with stops at a few special locations for some candy-filled trick-or-treating.
-Get to know the ghosts who still haunt historic hotels we’ll pass by.
-Stay safe in this small-group experience of 12 people or less so we can ensure proper social distancing.
-Wear your best masked costume for a chance to win our costume contest, featuring a delicious prize.

Begin at The Spring Arcade Building, where we’ll start off Halloween right — with gelato and macaroons!

As we continue through Downtown LA, we’ll dig a little deeper into some of the haunted past of the glamorous hotels where Tinseltown legends once frequented. Some say their ghosts still roam the streets ... Maybe we'll be able to spot one on this All Hallows' Eve!

There’s plenty of light-hearted fun on our candy crawl, too. We’ll hang at the Grand Central Market for some sweet treats, and marvel at LA's last funicular, Angel's Flight. We'll have a few other goodies and surprises before finishing at the oldest street in Los Angeles, Olvera, where you can take in an evening of Día de los Muertos art and music at the historic (and haunted) plaza.

To finish, we'll tally votes for the costume contest and award the grand prize.
