Climate Comedy Workshop
On Saturday, April 11, Hip Hop Caucus and Inside the Greenhouse will collaborate to present a Climate Comedy Workshop during LA Climate Week. The Climate Comedy Workshop, is a first-of-its-kind creative education initiative, it leverages the power of humor as a critical tool for climate storytelling, promoting civic engagement, and fostering intergenerational learning.
The workshop is open to individuals ages 18 to 25, the deadline to register is April 6th. Experience in performance arts or comedy is preferred but not required.
The program pairs students with a team of veteran comedians—including Rasheda Crockett, Kaycee Conlee, and Estaban Gast—alongside environmental leaders as mentors. This collaborative structure will facilitate the co-creation of climate-themed stand-up and sketch performances. The primary goal is to produce content that makes complex climate issues accessible, locally relevant, and framed with a sense of hope. By seamlessly fusing climate justice education with comedic performance, participants will learn to transform feelings of climate anxiety and apathy into proactive, creative agency and action.
The workshop session will run from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
