Borderlands Cinematic Arts Presents: 'Dolores' with Peter Bratt and Dolores Huerta

During times of crisis and violence, how can cinema depict - and inspire - resistance and social change? Join legendary activist Dolores Huerta and visionary filmmaker Peter Bratt, as they screen his acclaimed documentary 'Dolores' and discuss the creative process that brought Dolores Huerta's life story to the screen. Taking inspiration from Huerta's life and work, we'll explore how documentary storytelling can be a tool for educating, organizing and mobilizing.

The event is being hosted by Borderlands Cinematic Arts and The Sidney Poitier New American Film School at ASU.

Peter Bratt is a Rockefeller Fellow, a Peabody Award winner, an Emmy-nominated film producer, writer and director, a member of the Director’s Guild of America (DGA) and the recipient of the 2023 University of California Santa Cruz’s Social Science Alumni of the Year award.

Borderlands Cinematic Arts, founded by MacArthur “Genius Grant” winners Alex Rivera and Cristina Ibarra, is a first-of-its-kind space for world-class filmmakers to create new cinematic works that are grounded in the social experience of the “borderlands” and elevated in craft and form.
