Black Soil Rising: Film Screening, Climate Activations & Eco-Vibes Mixer, hosted by Black in Environment, Hip Hop Caucus

Join Hip Hop Caucus, the Energy Justice Law and Policy Center, and Black in Environment for an evening of film, conversation, and connection during LA Climate Week.

This Black Climate Week gathering centers Black climate storytelling as a powerful lens for understanding land, energy, and environmental justice.

The evening will feature a screening of Black Soil Rising, a short film examining Black land, land loss, and the impacts of fossil fuel extraction, followed by a facilitated conversation the film’s director Raya Salter Esq., NAACP Director of the Center for Environmental and Climate Justice Abre’ Conner, and Hip Hop Caucus Director of Storytelling & Communications Brittany Bell Suratt.

From there, the space opens up into an Eco-Vibes mixer featuring music, food, drinks, and climate-focused activations. Guests can connect with local organizations, engage with creative elements, and move through a space designed for both reflection and energy.

This is more than a screening. It’s a place to meet people, exchange ideas, and build community with organizers, creatives, and community members from across Los Angeles.

Open to community members, organizers, artists, and anyone interested in climate justice and storytelling. No prior expertise required.

The venue is wheelchair accessible.
Photography and videography may be captured during the event.

Free and open to the public. Space, food, and drinks are limited. Sponsored by M4BL The Black Hive.
