ASU Borderlands Studios Master Class and Screening Series: Aurora Guerrero

The border is at the center of America’s political and cultural conversation, yet too often, the voices of those who know it best are left out. Borderlands Studios presents a powerful new series of master classes and screenings featuring our Borderlands Visionary Fellows, four groundbreaking filmmakers whose work challenges, reimagines and reshapes how we see the connections and conflicts between north and south, past and present."

Join acclaimed director Aurora Guerrero for a master class on her “Unimaginable Journey” as a filmmaker from a working-class, first-generation background to the creator of an award-winning feature film. Guerrero will explore how she found her artistic way on her own terms. Participants will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with Guerrero during a catered reception following the master class. The evening will end with a screening of “Mosquita y Mari,” Guerrero’s 2012 queer coming-of-age film that was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award, a Sundance Film Festival audience award and the Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award.
