Art Deco Splendors of Downtown LA

About This Course
Downtown Los Angeles hosts a dazzling array of Art Deco architectural wonders, embracing the clean lines and geometric patterns of the 1920s and 1930s. Art Deco provided a perfect style for a growing city, as the movie industry and post-WWI migration attracted new residents. In this course, we explore the exteriors and interiors that reflected the exuberance of the Jazz Age. Afterward, we take a walking tour to explore the richness of materials and new technologies in the Trust, Southern California Edison and Oviatt Buildings, all near Pershing Square. The tour ends at Grand Central Market. No membership required. Lunch is not included in the class fee. No refunds allowed. Students must sign a waiver before participating.
