California Greenworks is a non-profit environmental organization whose mission is to provide environmental educational programs to urban schools, revitalize urban open spaces, waterways and neighborhoods.

This year’s CELA honorees include:

🌎 Director of STEM Education Synergy Academies Barbara Shannon, EdD

🌎 Executive Director of the Baldwin Hills Conservancy David McNeill

🌎 First African American Astronaut Candidate and renowned sculptor Ed Dwight

🌎 General Manager of External and Regulatory Affairs and Chief Sustainability Officer for LADWP Nancy Sutley

The event is being planned at the beautiful California Science Center in the Samuel Oschin Space Shuttle Pavilion. The event will run from 7 to 11 p.m. April 20th 2023.

Our guest speaker for the evening is Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager and Comedian and Actor Kente Scott will be our Master of Ceremonies for this occasion.

This program will honor the legacy of Dr. George Washington Carver because of his well-documented past, as an inventor, educator, scientist, painter, botanist and conservationist.

About the G.W. Carver Environmental Legacy Awards

Dr. George Washington Carver, an African American scientist, naturalist, visionary and environmentalist saw it fitting to pursue a life of uplifting his community through the use of ecology and science. His vision lives with us today. The GW Carver Environmental Legacy Awards is intended to serve as recognition for outstanding devotion and service to mankind.

Our award recognizes leaders within their prospective fields of academia, green technology/STEM, environmental justice/advocacy, entertainment and community service categories. These outstanding citizens have distinguished themselves within their prospective professions to have made a positive impact on humanity and our environment. We seek to honor their service to humanity and achievements with our award during this annual gala celebration.
