71Above
71Above Recommended by Ryan, FourFourtyFour South Flower
633 W 5th St, 71st floor
Los Angeles, CA, 90071

Looking for a special lunch option? 71Above just made that easier by opening their stunning dining room towering above DTLA for lunch Tuesday – Thursday, 11am – 2pm. In the name of research, I headed over last week with my work besties. We started with the sea bream ceviche and heirloom tomato salad which were light, refreshing, yet packed with flavor. We loved the hanger steak with creamy au poivre and the seared yellowfin, a Japanese-inspired play on the classic niçoise, but the standout for me was the grilled Dorade. The smoky fish paired with a pickled lemon-sumac vinaigrette, served atop lebni, chickpea, and cucumber, was a perfect balance of flavors. Their modern American menu never disappoints, and the breathtaking views are a treat you won’t want to miss.

Pitchoun!
Pitchoun! Recommended by Meagan, Figueroa at Wilshire
545 S Olive St
Los Angeles, CA, 90013

Get your caffeine fix with a French twist at Pitchoun! This cozy spot across from Pershing Square is famous for its artisanal pastries and fresh-brewed coffee, making it an ideal morning treat. Using traditional family recipes, the Souliès family brings their love of French cuisine straight from France to DTLA. Everything is homemade, with organic and local ingredients, making every bite feel like a true indulgence. Their croissants are as buttery as they come, and their salads and sandwiches are perfect for a quick lunch. Fun fact: they also offer custom cookies—ideal when you want a convenient way to jazz up your holiday gift giving with personalized edible treats.

Broken Shaker at Freehand LA
Broken Shaker Recommended by Adam, working remotely in DTLA
416 W 8th St
Los Angeles, CA, 90014

True to form, 9 to 5-ers always know where to find the best views, and Broken Shaker on the Freehand Hotel rooftop is no exception. This award-winning oasis is renowned for its handcrafted drinks infused with homemade elixirs and exotic ingredients. I recommend sharing the guacamole, while treating yourself to the No Bucks Given cocktail off the happy hour menu; a delicious mix of warm bourbon, pineapple, and ginger, blending fall vibes with a tropical twist. Although if you’re lucky enough to sit at the bar, Joey or Sierra can use their extensive knowledge of mixology to create something you’ll love. Happy Hour runs Monday through Thursday, 3 PM to 6 PM, making it your go-to midweek retreat.

For timeless treats that bring all the nostalgia, SusieCakes is your go-to pastry shop. Everything is baked from scratch with simple ingredients, making each bite comforting and delicious. Call me basic, but this month I’m all about their festive Halloween sugar cookies—shaped like Jack-O-Lanterns and Ghosts, they’re perfect for sharing (hint hint). So, swing on by and grab a classic cupcake for yourself or bring a box of goodies back to the office. SusieCakes delivers sweet memories in every bite.

BellaLina Gelato
BellaLina Gelato Recommended by Leslie, The Bloc
700 W 7th St, G580
Los Angeles, CA, 90017

Lower temperatures haven't stopped the DTLA crowd from continuing to recommend this beloved artisanal gelateria at The Bloc. With exotic flavors like Real Belgian Chocolate, Argentine Dulce de Leche, Alphonso Mangoes from India, and my favorite, Ube—BellaLina delivers some of the finest gelatos in DTLA. Their commitment to sustainable practices includes using traditional methods, responsibly sourced products, and hormone-free Real California dairy, which makes me feel great ordering that second scoop. Drop by The Bloc from 1 PM to 7 PM on weekdays for a lovely post-lunch or pre-commute treat.

6
Bottega Louie
Bottega Louie, Recommended by Cherry, The Wedbush Center
700 S Grand Ave
Los Angeles, CA, 90017

A true DTLA staple, Bottega Louie is so much more than just a restaurant. We go there for our coffee, fancy lunch, and pastries too good to resist. It’s no wonder so many 9-to-5ers recommend Bottega Louie when it's time to “treat” yourself this season. Their photogenic sweets are guaranteed to make you the envy of your social media feed.  Stop by for a delicious goody or grab a box of macarons to share—because who needs a special occasion to indulge in a little luxury?

Bring Something to the Party
Bring Something to the Party, Recommended by Ryan, The Bloc
700 W 7th St, Suite G420
Los Angeles, CA, 90017

Got an upcoming birthday or gift exchange on the horizon? Pick up that perfectly unique, beautifully wrapped gift at Bring Something to the Party. This charming little one-stop shop delivers big with custom balloon creations, plants, distinctive gifts, and party favors or just pop in and browse for some restorative retail therapy—it’s definitely worth a visit next time you're at The Bloc.

8
Desuar Spa
Desuar Spa Recommended by Sage, 333 S Hope
404 S Figueroa St, Ste. 302
Los Angeles, CA, 90071

The kids are getting candy, so why not book a grown-up treat for yourself with a little self-care? Desuar Spa is the ultimate destination for some pampering and relaxation. Offering soothing massages, rejuvenating facials, and more, this luxurious spa has everything you need to recharge and de-stress. My hot tip is to schedule an appointment right after work. By the time you emerge feeling refreshed, you can enjoy the added bonus of lighter traffic on your commute home.

9
SUGARFISH
SUGARFISH Recommended by Noelle, The Bloc
600 W 7th St
Los Angeles, CA, 90017

What can I say about SUGARFISH that sushi lovers don't already know? Their simple, yet exquisitely executed menu lets the freshness of the fish and delicate textures take center stage. Work pals and I make a point of treating ourselves to their “Trust Me” option regularly — it’s the perfect way to enjoy phenomenal food, great conversation, and have a satiating meal that won't have us lugging leftovers back to the office fridge. Plus, it’s surprisingly light on the wallet! Pro tip: there’s no reservations so go a little early or late to avoid the lunch rush at this LA staple, conveniently within walking distance.

10
St. Vincent Court
St. Vincent Court Recommended by Julia, 527 7th St
650 S Hill St, 7th St. between Broadway & Hill
Los Angeles, CA, 90014

One of my favorite DTLA tricks is to take a new coworker to St. Vincent Court. This special spot is easy to miss; look for an alleyway off the north side of 7th Street between Broadway & Hill and get instantly whisked away to a European village. You'll find several restaurants and small businesses flourishing here with their movie-set quality building facades, plus several entrances to the massive St. Vincent Jewelry Center. This quirky courtyard is a charming place for a stroll and peaceful retreat.
