About Us

A catalyst in the revitalization of Downtown LA

Building on a Legacy, Embracing the Future

The DTLA Alliance is a coalition of over 2,000 property owners in the Downtown Center district of Los Angeles. For over 25 years, the organization has been at the forefront of revitalizing DTLA with its commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the Downtown Center, a now bustling commercial, residential, and cultural hub in the heart of the city which includes Bunker Hill and the Grand Avenue cultural corridor, the Financial District, Jewelry District, and 7th Street Restaurant Row. From 24/7 safe and clean operations to a range of economic development and marketing programs, community events, placemaking and advocacy initiatives, the DTLA Alliance helps a vibrant community of business leaders and local merchants, artists and entrepreneurs, residents, workers, and visitors, reach its full potential.

The DTLA Alliance administers the 65-block downtown center business improvement district which is bounded by the Harbor Freeway to the west, First Street to the north, Main and Hill Streets to the east, and Olympic Boulevard and 9th Street to the south. Property owners of the more than 3,700 District parcels provide funding for the organization’s services through a special property tax assessment.

Established in 1997 as the Downtown Center Business Improvement District (DCBID) by pioneering Downtowners lead by visionary founding President & CEO, Carol Schatz, the organization changed its name to the DTLA Alliance in 2024. As the DTLA Alliance, we build upon our rich history with a mission that encompasses a broader scope, aligning with the evolving nature and needs of our city center. Our commitment to creating a welcoming, thriving, and flexible Downtown LA remains unwavering.
