Downtown Center Business Improvement District
The Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) is a coalition of property owners united in their commitment to enhance the quality of life in Downtown Los Angeles. It aims to help the 65-block central business district - the Heart of the City - achieve its full potential as a great place to own a business, visit, work or live. Over 400 property owners provide funds to the district through a special voluntary tax assessment.
The district extends from the Harbor Freeway on the west to Main and Hill Streets on the East, and from First Street on the north to Ninth Street and Olympic Boulevard on the south.
The organization's purpose is to develop the Downtown economy by marketing the area as a premier business location and visitor destination.
To assure that the City center is safe and clean, the BID's Purple Patrol - a team of maintenance, safety and customer service guides - augment City services. The BID also coordinates a multi-agency, community-service outreach effort to assist the homeless and obtain help for the needy.
