Safety Matters
A Visitor’s Common Sense Guide to Safety
The Downtown Center Business Improvement District welcomes you to Downtown Los Angeles. Our Purple Patrol, clad in purple shirts, provides clean and safe services, as well as acts as customer service guides to answer questions and provide directions and information about the hundreds of dining, shopping, entertainment and sports options available Downtown. The Purple Patrol works closely with the Los Angeles Police Department to serve as additional eyes and ears on the street.
Safety is everyone’s concern. Help take responsibility for your own safety by following these common sense tips.
- Pay attention, stay alert and be aware of your surroundings.
- Carry your purse in front, close to your body, and try not to carry more than you can handle.
- Never flash your cash or credit cards.
- Remove your convention badges outside the meeting site.
- Walk in well-traveled and well-lit places, especially at night.
- Always lock your car and store all items out of sight, including spare change and cell phones.
- Report suspicious behavior to the Purple Patrol or LAPD.
