Our Mission
Founded in 1998, the Downtown Center Business Improvement District (DCBID) is a coalition of approximately 1,200 property owners in the central business district, united in their commitment to enhance the quality of life in Downtown Los Angeles. The DCBID helps the district achieve its full potential as a great place to live, work and play.
The DCBID funds the clean and safe team known as the Purple Patrol. They keep Downtown L.A. safe, clean, and friendly, 24 hours a day. Look for them in purple shirts, patrolling the Downtown Center and Historic Core
The DCBID also provides Economic Development and Marketing services, which support and promote Downtown's continuing renaissance. The Economic Development team works to attract new business, investment, and residents to Downtown L.A., while Marketing works to brand and promote Downtown L.A. to residents, workers, and visitors.
The DCBID boundaries are the Harbor Freeway to the west, First Street to the north, Main and Hill streets to the east, and Olympic Boulevard to the south.
